Sometimes it can even be a hindrance to what you are tying to do. I do agree that slating can be very helpful, but what I've started to do, since everything is stored on SD card now, is that I rename my files as I go. Or I just delete them if I know they will be of no use. This is something that you really couldn't do with MiniDV, (at least didn't want to take the time to do).
